Lipped Drop In Anchor is used in solid concrete substrate,no need for particularly precise hole sizes, the special design about the lipped head is different common flat head, mostly used in applications that require a flush mounted anchor and when a bolt needs to be inserted and removed. Using a setting tool to hammer the expanded plug to expand the anchor body when installation.
Lipped drop in anchor or drop in anchor bolt is a kind of heavy mechanical expansion anchor bolt system. The production materials are stainless steel 304-316 and carbon steel. The copper is used in a small part of the market called brass drop in anchor.
It is mainly composed of an anchor body and a conical plug. One end of the anchor body is designed as a cross cutting groove, and the plug is designed a cone shape. The design purpose is to make it easier for the plug to enter the anchor body and get full expansion function when the plug is hammered by the punching tool. There are threads inside anchor body for flush mounting applications and solid substrates. It is mainly used for anchoring fixixing the fixture objects of solid concrete, masonry, stone and solid brick block substrate. Typical applications include suspension of threaded rods.
The installation is very simple. Pre-drill a hole with a suitable anchor diameter and insert the anchor into the pre drilled hole until it is flush with the base material. Use the appropriate punching tool to set the anchor correctly and hammer the back of the setting tool until the neck is flush with the top of the anchor. Place the fixture in place, insert the machine bolts and tighten to the required torque. If the overhead type is used, insert the screw into the minimum thread engagement, which should be equal to the nominal diameter of the thread insert.
Drop in anchor with lip or drop in anchor with flange is internal threaded anchors for use with bolts or threaded rods of any length. Can be set to flush or depth. The correct shoulder positioning punch ensures complete expansion. Drop in anchor with flange must be used on solid concrete substrates. When using, insert screw or bolt to fix the object. The special design of the lip head is different from that of the common flat head. It is mainly used for the anchor which needs to be installed flush and the bolt to be inserted and removed. When installing, hammer the expansion plug with setting tool to expand the anchor body.
1. Pre-drill a hole in the concrete substrate using a cemented carbide bit of suitable diameter as specified in the product information sheet. Drill holes to specified embedment depth plus 3mm-5mm for flush installation and clean the hole.
2. Insert the anchor into the hole. Tap with a hammer until flush with the surface.
3. Using a punching tool to push the expansion plug toward the bottom of the anchor until the shoulder of the holding tool touches the top of the anchor.
4. The minimum thread engagement shall be equal to the nominal diameter of the threaded insert.
5. Lipped drop in anchor eliminates the need for precise drilling depth.
Note: too large a hole will make anchoring difficult and reduce the bearing capacity of the anchor.
